Become a GenNext Advocate
Looking for a low commitment way to make an impact in your community? You’re in the right place!
The GenNext Advocate program is for young philanthropists who want to help grow GenNext East Ontario, while developing their professional skills and making new connections.
What does a GenNext Advocate do?
That’s up to you! You decide what role you want to play, based on your skills and interests.
We’re looking for volunteers who can do things like:
- Promote GenNext events, programs and causes.
- Create written or video content and amplify GenNext on social media.
- Attend GenNext events as a host, moderator, or in the audience.
- Share feedback on how we can improve GenNext.
It’s a “choose your own adventure” type program, where you tell us what you’re interested in. At the end of the day, all our GenNext advocates help with raising awareness. Working closely with United Way East Ontario staff, you are our community voices on how to stand up for the causes you care about, how to support GenNext, and how to get involved through our events and activities.
What are the benefits of being a GenNext Advocate?
“GenNext targets local issues that represent all the topics I am passionate about: mental health, youth homelessness, equitable employment, diversity and inclusion. For me, the topic of mental health is of particular importance as I firmly believe that to build a prosperous society, there needs to be a focus on building up the individuals within it by prioritizing their mental health. For this reason, GenNext allows me to work amongst other advocates to tackle these issues head-on and give back to my community.”
- Bassant Mohamed, GenNext Advocate
